Waterschap Hollandse Delta presents: the Voorstraat: Shopping Street and Dike

Did you know that the Voorstraat isn’t just a historic shopping street, but also an important flood barrier?

If you walk down Voorstraat, you probably won’t notice much of that. Yet this unique dike provides vital protection for Dordrecht’s historic city center against high water. But how does it actually work?

Find out on September 24 during a unique presentation and guided tour led by staff from the Waterschap Hollandse Delta. You’ll get a behind-the-scenes look: how do we, as a water authority, prepare for high water and other crisis situations? What can you do as a resident?
