City Walk: Flood Disasters

🕐 26 September, 11:00 o'clock

📍 Ontdek Dordrecht

Discover the traces of the floods that have ravaged Dordrecht over the past 600 years

On the ‘Floods’ city walk, accompanied by an enthusiastic local guide, you’ll discover the traces of the major floods from 1421 (St Elizabeth’s Flood) to 1953 in the centre of Dordrecht. During the walk, you’ll learn about Dordrecht’s unique relationship with water: on the one hand, it has brought the city great prosperity, but on the other, it remains a constant threat. During this interactive and surprising 1.5-hour city walk, you’ll discover – through photographs, flood stones and other monuments – what has befallen Dordrecht over the centuries and how the people of Dordrecht have coped with it and continue to do so.

This is a unique city walk: don’t expect dry facts, but an enthusiastic guide who will help you experience the city’s water history from the past to the present.
